“When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; buthis blood I will require at your hand.” Ezekiel 33:8
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
Jesus Christ, John 16:33
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
Love – agape – is patient and kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth.
Having joy includes feeling good cheer and a vibrant happiness. But joy, in its fuller, spiritual meaning of expressing God’s goodness, involves more. It is a deep-rooted, inspired happiness. The Holy Bible says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
The Hebrew word for peace, šālôm, translated most often by the Greek word, eirēnē, has a wide range including the notions of totality or completeness, success, fulfillment, wholeness, harmony, security and well-being.
Patiently enduring lasting offense or hardship. Putting up with (enduring) others who wrongfully act against you — is the Christ-like character a believer is to develop and grow.
Gentleness is the quality of being kind and careful. Your gentleness with a frightened stray dog will eventually convince her to let you feed and pet her. The noun gentleness is perfect for describing the way someone acts when they are soft and calm and sweet to other people.
Goodness is action; it’s not something we do only for the sake of being virtuous. In Greek, the word goodness, “agathosune,” means “an uprightness of heart and life”. When we act out of true goodness of the heart, we are obedient to God’s commandments and seek the benefit of others.
Faith is the basic ingredient to begin a relationship with God. Faith is the assurance that the things revealed and promised in the Word are true, even though unseen, and gives the believer a conviction that what he expects in faith, will come to pass.
The meek shall inherit the Earth. The saying implies that those who forgo worldly power will be rewarded in the kingdom of heaven. Meekness is an attribute of human nature and behavior. It has been defined several ways: righteous, humble, teachable, and patient under suffering, long suffering willing to follow gospel teachings; an attribute of a true disciple.
Temperance can be viewed as emotional restraint or self-control. Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but one who has a hasty temper exalts. Temperance is moderation in thought, word, or action. Those who practice temperance are self-controlled and show restraint in their passions and behaviors.
